Sure, you can carry your bat with a big enough duffle bag. Heck – I’ve done it myself on occasion. But honestly, that’s not a very good habit to get into.

So, you now know that baseball bats need to be in checked luggage if you want to fly with it, great! But how do you pack your baseball in a way that it’s safe during the flight? And who guarantees that your bag will arrive safely at your destination?
Well, I’ll say this much – though there are many stories of people losing their checked luggage at airports, the chances of it happening to you are pretty slim. As long as you pack your bag carefully and hand it in at the right spots, you should have nothing to worry about.
That being said, if you don’t pack your bat carefully, you might damage your baseball bat. The wood might snap, or the finish might get scraped, and I’m sure you don’t want that to happen to your top-tier baseball bat. That’s why you need to pack it properly.
If you’re carrying it in a suitcase or duffle bag, make sure to cushion it with plenty of bubble wrap or clothes so that it doesn’t move around much inside the bag. You also want to make sure your bag is locked perfectly before you hand it over to the officials. TSA locks would be the ideal choice here since the officials can check your bag’s content without breaking the lock.
You also want to avoid putting other hard or heavy objects in the same compartment as your baseball bat inside the bag. Plane rides can get bumpy, too, so there’s no reason to risk anything damaging your bat. If you follow these small steps, your baseball bat should be perfectly safe during your flight.

And you might think that since these are souvenir objects, airport security won’t have any issue letting you bring them aboard the cabin.
Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but like a full-sized baseball bat, mini baseball bats are prohibited from carrying on your flight. Apparently, they can also be used as bludgeons and you need to put them with your checked luggage if you want to board the airplane.
But don’t let that bring you down. Mini baseball bats are easy to put inside your checked luggage along with your clothes. It’s not nearly as difficult to pack a mini baseball bat in your luggage as it is to put a baseball bat. So you should be fine.
